Turtles

Two turtles wander along a beach, on their backs young human tribes. Once only did the turtles meet and the tribes shared supplies.

One tribe brought paper and wine, the other food and ink. They dined and invented writing because now on paper they could think.

They each develop post, long letters they can send. With that came philosophy, now flaws in thinking they could mend.

But wait, a fire! One tribe half their ink they lose. To keep their new lives moving, to send shorter messages they choose.

Now the turtles near the sea, eager they are to swim. But tribes dont want to drown and their futures are growing grim.

The long lettered tribe deliberates, each village builds a rope. Together they weave and build, and divert the turtle to hope.

With short letters the others assume and contrast. Confusion and anger build up, and they drown at last.
